Copy & Paste to Word, Minus All the Formatting

scissors and glueIn Microsoft Word 2003 and 2007 when you copy & paste text from another document or website, you might not want all the colors, fonts, bullets, and other formatting from the original source.

So instead of using the regular Paste command (or keyboard shortcut Ctrl + V), follow these steps instead:

Word 2007:

  1. on the Ribbon, click the Home tab
  2. click the Paste icon
  3. click Paste Special
  4. click Unformatted Text
  5. click the OK button

Word 2003:

  1. open the Edit menu
  2. click Paste Special
  3. click Unformatted Text

You’ll get just the text, without the fanciness.
