If you receive an email message you need to take action on — but don't have time at the moment — you can "flag" it in Outlook so you'll get a reminder to follow up.
Here's how to set a reminder:
- From the Messages view of your Inbox, right-click on an email message
- Mouse over Follow Up
- Click Add Reminder
- In Outlook 2000-2003, select Flag for Follow Up instead
- On the Flag To dropdown list, you can choose an option that describes the action you need to take (like call, follow up. reply, etc.) Or if none of the pre-filled options matches the action you need to take, you can write your own description in the Flag To text box.
- Choose the date and time you want the Reminder message to appear.
- Click the OK button.
Then when you get the reminder in Outlook, you'll see the Reminder message box where you can click the Open Item button to open the e-mail message and follow up.
